On the night of June 13th, 2022, the world lost a shining star while our heavenly Father gained a beautiful soul. Lucas Jay Scheele of Gardner passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident. Though wearing a helmet, the impact from the accident was simply too much to hold our beautiful Lucas to this earth. Our loss is heaven's gain.
Lucas was born on a sunny fall day in 1998 to Eric and Cheryl Scheele. Lucas graduated from St James High School in 2017 and went on to play collegiate baseball at Iowa Western University and Hutchinson Community College for a short stint prior to injury and then proceeded to work with his family real estate business before finding his passion in sales. As an avid lover of motorcycles and outdoor recreation vehicles, Lucas worked as a sales manager at Shawnee Cycle Plaza for a year and most recently with his Ridenow Powersports family for the past two years. Lucas loved his Ridenow family.
Lucas was known for his contagious smile, laughter, dry sense of humor and a unique ability to relate to any age of person, from any walk of life. Lucas could be a charismatic relationary genius getting to know a person genuinely in a very short period of time. Growing up, Lucas discovered and developed multiple interests, passions and talents. With a passion for animals and the outdoors, Lucas became a local expert in turtles, bearded dragons, ball pythons and boa constrictors. Lucas excelled at most any sport he played, but he found most of his interest leaning toward baseball. Lucas excelled as a pitcher and infielder from grade school up to college. Most recently, Lucas had begun to seriously pursue his lifelong interest and passion for music. Having just written, edited and produced his first album, Lucas was extremely excited to chase his dream in the music industry. Lucas was named for its meaning, bringer of light and through his friends, family and music, Lucas will shine on forever.
Lucas is preceded in death by his uncle Mike Scheele (godfather) and his cousin Beau Barksdale. He is survived by his mother, Cheryl, father, Eric and sister, Hannah. His grandparents Bob & Carolyn Fearnside & Bob and Jan Scheele. Aunts & Uncles: Bobbi Jo (godmother) & Phil Carman, Rod Fearnside, JoNell Fearnside, Ric Fearnside, Allison & Russ Hannna & Joi Teets-Scheele. Cousins: Shawn & Ashlie Fearnside, Farynn Lindsey, Nicholas Scheele. Natalie Scheele, Maddie Hanna & Andrew Hanna. Lucas was an organ donor and we hope that his gift helps the life of another person here on earth.
A public visitation and service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 701 N 94th St, Kansas City KS 66111. The visitation will be held Thursday, June 23rd from 5 - 7 pm. The service and celebration of life afterwards will be Saturday, June 25th starting at 1 pm.
