Clyda “Kitten” Yantz was born December 22, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to John “Jack” Wesley and Allana (Burton) Kirkbride. A life-long area resident, Kitten graduated from Northeast High School and then attended Kansas City Kansas Community College then Avila with a business degree and a membership to Phi Beta Kappa. She was a very active woman; early on, she owned a hair salon, “Kitty’s Kut and Kurl” and later worked for Quest Diagnostics as an account manager. Volunteering was very important to her, both at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and the Cancer Society. Kitten’s family said there was nothing that she couldn’t do; she knew how to overhaul an engine, create her own crochet patterns, leg and arm wrestle, tend a garden, create beautiful oil paintings, work on her house—basically anything artistic came naturally to her. She loved her family and took care of her home and family with care and lots of love.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father Jack Kirkbride.
Kitten is survived by her mother Allana Kirkbride, her husband David Yantz; children, Dan Paterson and wife Jody, Kimberley Paterson, Tracy Cantrell, Robin Thome, Heather Cantrell and partner Christina Campbell, David Charles Yantz and wife Emily, Danny Yantz and wife Angela, Eric Yantz and Christopher Yantz; grandchildren, Daniel Tyler, Josh and Devin Paterson, Samantha, Darren, Brandon and Hailey Yantz, Destiny McAlexander, and Aidan and Christian Thome; brother, Dan Kirkbride and wife Marilee; sister, Chris Bonderson; sister, Nanette Moore and husband Mike, as well as many other family and friends.
