Kent “Big-un” Gordon Rymer of Powhattan, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. He was 67 years old. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Big-un was born November 12, 1952 in Kansas City, Kansas to Richard and Melora (Forbes) Rymer. He attended and graduated Wyandotte High School with the class of 1970. After graduation, Big-un spent his time building houses before switching over to the career of a boilermaker, where he had to undergo a long five-year apprenticeship. In 1975, Big-un married his beautiful bride, Julie Greenlee, and together had one son, Jeremiah Rymer. Big-un and Julie enjoyed motorcycling and were members of the District 11 A.B.A.T.E. of Kansas. Big-un was also an avid guitar player and bass player. He was the dedicated leader several organizations that his son was a part of, such as, the football coach and the Boy Scout Leader.
Big-un was an easy–going man with a heart of gold. He was an example to his son, grandson, family, and friends on what it meant to be a hard worker. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Melora Rymer.
Left to cherish his memory is if wife, Julie Rymer; son, Jeremiah (Anna) Rymer; grandson, Gage Rymer; and brothers, Brett Rymer, Chris Rymer, and Lance Rymer, along with other family and friends.
