Kathy is survived by her loving husband Richard Bond and her daughter Susan Cooper as well as her four brothers Mike (Judy) and Steve (Elise) Stansbery and Bill (Lisa) and Mark (Donna Jo) Arnold and Christine, widow of brother Tom Stansbery. Her parents and her brother Tom Stansbery predeceased her. She leaves behind a multitude of family, friends and co-workers.
She was smart, kind, could laugh at herself, motivated, real and honest. A good friend to many. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, loved her animals, and spending time with friends and family.
She started her career working as a secretary at Butler Manufacturing and progressed to become Senior Vice President of Marketing at Kroh Brothers. She became Executive Director of The Good Samaritan Project in 1993. Under her leadership the agency grew and was able to assist many people through programs she initiated. She retired in 2006.
Throughout her life, she supported the Kansas City community through volunteer and board memberships. Over the years she served as a board member of The Council of Philanthropy (Nonprofit Connect), The AIDS Service Foundation of Kansas City, The AIDS Council of Kansas City, The MainStream Coalition, The MainStream PAC, The Fireside Committee of the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) as Treasurer, and The Vanderslice Committee as Treasurer and Auction Chair for the 2022 “Art Fare” also supporting the KCAI.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Fiorella's Event Center, 9000 West 137th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66221.
