Juanita “Nita” L. Bruenn, 85, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 22nd at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will follow Mass at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, Massachusetts 01061.
Nita was born September 7, 1930 to Roe and Mary Alice (Estes) Carothers. She was a graduate of Wyandotte High School. On April 11, 1953, Nita married Robert “Bob” Bruenn. They were members of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 50 years and Nita was on the Altar & Rosary Society and sang in the choir. Nita also worked at St. Patrick for 7 years in the Rectory. Nita was a homemaker and lovingly raised three children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, toll painting, singing, writing poetry, and watching the Royals play baseball.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Roe and Mary Alice; siblings, Mary Wittek, Jesse Carothers, Anne Busse, Loretta (Alma) Lyons and Edna Goddard. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 62 years, Bob Bruenn; sons, Mike (Julie) Bruenn and Mark (Lori) Bruenn; daughter, Michelle (Paul) Blaesing; sister, Jean Day; grandchildren, Jeremy (Krista) Bruenn, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Bruenn, Adam Bruenn, Jason (Jill) Bruenn, Katie Bruenn and Evan Highberger; great-grandson, Dylan Taylor and their beloved dog Sophie.
