John T. Stanley, 61 of Edwardsville, KS entered into paradise on September 18, 2021. He was born in Wilmot, Arkansas, the son of Frank, Sr. and Mattie Stanley. His parents were blessed to welcome him as the 9th out of their 14 children.
As a child John attended and united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Freddie Smith of Mer Rouge, LA. He attended and graduated from Wilmot High School in 1979. He was employed for over 21 years at Anderson & Sons Trucking, enjoyed his catering business “On Demand”, and served as a Deacon and was part of the choir at Grace Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Bill Mitchell. He found peace and enjoyment while gardening and cooking for family and friends.
John was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and godfather with a caring and giving heart never expecting anything in return.
John was preceded in death by his father, Frank Stanley, Sr.; sister, Rosie (Stanley) Dunn; and brother, Frank Stanley, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 23 years, Tania Stanley; three daughters, LaToya Strickland, Alexis Stanley and Alazia Stanley; two sons, Tavokeyias (Shunnissa) Stanley and Arlando Young, Jr.; grandchildren, Jordyn Wesley, Mariah Johns, Jolee Gustin and Eli Owens-Young; godsons, Courtney Emerson and Leon Granger, III; mother, Mattie Stanley; brothers, Roosevelt (Marie) Stanley, Bobby Stanley, Ike Stanley, Luther (Tina) Stanley, Michael Stanley, Leroy Stanley; sisters, Emma (Costello) Knight, Cheryl Stanley-O’Keke, Hattie Stanley, Frankye Stanley, Angela (Bruce) Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and extended family.
A visitation will be from 9-11 AM followed by a home going celebration at 11 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. His final place of rest will be immediately following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
