John Harrison Fohn, 89, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017. A visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Ph: 913.334.3366. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Basehor-Linwood Assistance Service (BLAS) at Basehor United Methodist Church.
John was born on May 2, 1928 in Oskaloosa, Kansas. He was a graduate of Argentine High School and took post-secondary continuing education classes. He was married to Peggy Luella Clark on January 19, 1947, and was married to her for 68 years until her passing on May 27, 2015. They spent two years in Columbus, Georgia when John was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. John was employed as a truck driver for his adult life working out of terminals in Kansas City, Missouri and Salina, Kansas. He retired from Rodeway Express. He was a dedicated family man, loving husband, father, grandfather, loyal friend and compassionate person. He was a member of Basehor United Methodist Church and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Fohn and Ethel (Brown) Fohn, and three half- sisters, Flossie Caples, Hazel Anderson and Ruby Carrigan.
John is survived by his son, John H. Fohn II and his wife Nancy Fohn of Los Lunas, NM, and granddaughter, Amanda Moore of Los Lunas, NM along with nieces and nephews.
