Jerry Ronald Burgess

Jerry Ronald Burgess, 91, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2024 peacefully in his sleep. Jerry was born on June 4, 1933 in his home to Herman and Juanita Burgess in Argentine, Kansas. After Jerry graduated from Argentine High School, he went on to work several odd jobs before landing at General Motors in Kansas City, Kansas.

In 1952, Jerry met Eileen at Pecks Department Store, where they both worked. Jerry and Eileen went on to have 2 children, Deborah & Jerry R Burgess II. After retirement Jerry took a part time job at Westlake Hardware in Shawnee, Kansas and spent the other half of his time fishing.

Jerry loved his family more than anything. He loved the Lord and attending his church and church family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed by his family and friends.

Jerry and Eileen celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 13th and just celebrated his 91st birthday June 4th.

Jerry was predeceased by his Parents, Herman and Juanita Burgess, Brother, Larry Burgess, Sisters, Yvonne Brent and Linda Nichols, Granddaughter, Emily Viscek. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eileen Burgess, Daughter, Deborah Harbison, Son, Jerry R Burgess II (Marsha), Granddaughter, Blair Johnson (Dustin), Great Granddaughter, Lylah Johnson, Sisters, Judy Potter and Sharon Kent, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jerry will be from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill- Butler Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the service.
