Jim Vossen, 87. Of Kansas City, KS, passed away October 5, 2015 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:30 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation will proceed the service from 9:00-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Jim was born June 28, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Ann Vossen. He grew up in Vermillion and Lillis, Kansas until he joined the Army. After his honorable discharge, Jim moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Jim was married to Lola (Morgans) Vossen for over thirty years. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the VFW and American Legion. Jim worked for Milgrams for over thirty years and was a member of the AFLCIO Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Vossen; his brother, Peter J. Vossen; and his son, Joseph J. Vossen.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Lola Vossen; his children, Margaret Harman (Steven), and Paul Vossen; five step-daughters, one step-son; two grandchildren, Christopher Harman, E5 (Mallory), and Jacob Harman; nine step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Biehn (Ivan), and Mary K. Steinbach; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
