James "Jim" Erwin Schoellkopf, Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022, at age 78. Jim was born July 9, 1943, in Kansas City, MO to Otto and Bertha Schoellkopf. Jim graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1961. In June 1966, Jim married Donna (Lipp) Schoellkopf and was a resident of Kansas City, KS for more than 50 years. Jim was employed the majority of his career as a baker for Safeway Bakeries. He later worked for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, KS Public Works Department as a laborer until his retirement.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Beary, brother Otto Schoellkopf and sister Esther Foster. He is survived by his daughters, Holly Ford (Matt) and Heidi Barlow; grand-daughters Hannah and Sarah Ford and grandsons, Nolan and Aidan Ford; sisters Margaret LaMothe and Jane Kepner, and brother, Robert Schoellkopf; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends & neighbors.
Jim was a dedicated spouse and caregiver for his wife, Donna. He loved pets especially his dog, Lola. Jim really enjoyed time with the Schoellkopf and Lipp families, as well as socializing with friends. Jim and Donna enjoyed winter vacations in Sanibel Island, FL with the LaMothes and Bearys. Some of Jim's favorite past times were camping, fishing, barbequing, vegetable gardening, woodworking, making German pretzels, and attending his grandkids' sporting and school events. He loved spending time at the lake with his grandkids and nieces and nephews. Jim also loved watching and rooting for the KC Chiefs and Royals.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS at 10 am with a Memorial Service at 11 am.
