Helen F. Pohl, 89, passed away November 23rd at Grace of Leawood Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 1st at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105.
Helen was born February 2, 1925 in KCK to Ignacio and Josephine Flores. She grew up in KCK as one of eight sisters and later worked for Proctor and Gamble for over 25 years before retiring. Helen attended Christ the King Catholic Church for many years. She loved everything to do with the ocean, especially boating, beaches and palm trees. Helen retired to Ft. Meyers, Florida and was a member of a yacht club there. She enjoyed sewing and made all of her own clothes, even sewing handbags to match her outfits. Helen also knitted and would often present special afghans to her family members as gifts. She was the consummate hostess and always tried to make everyone around her more comfortable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Paul W. Clark and her second husband, Warren A. Pohl, as well as three sisters.
Helen is survived by her sons, Robert L. Clark and his wife Connie, and Russell G. Clark; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four sisters.
