Gregory “Greg” Alan Miles died peacefully on March 17, 2014 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas at the age of 64. Greg was born April 9, 1949 in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Jack and Nola (Fowles) Miles who preceded him in death.
Greg was raised on farms in the Green and Broughton areas. Greg graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1967 and went on to attend Kansas State University. He graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1973. Greg and Cheryl Penny were married May 22, 1971 in Lawrence, KS. Their son Jonathan was born in Salina in 1974 and daughter Gretchen followed in 1976. For fifteen years Greg had his own company, Miles Engineering & Surveying, P.A. in Emporia. Through Greg’s career, he worked in several states earning Professional Engineer Licenses in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado and Professional Survey Licenses in Kansas and Nebraska.
Survivors include wife, Cheryl of Kansas City, Kansas; son, Jonathan of East Lansing, Michigan; daughter, Gretchen of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Scott and wife Debbie Miles of Wichita, Kansas, Jay and wife Valerie Miles of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a sister, Diane and husband Ron Berroth of Topeka, Kansas.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home with a memorial visitation to follow until 2:30 p.m.
