Gloria was born on January 29, 1932, in Brewer, Maine, to Albert A. and Winona E. (Howland) Lane. She moved with her family to Kansas City, KS, in 1950. She graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City, MO, focusing on vocal performance. Gloria had a 30-year career in banking. She worked at Mercantile bank from 1960 until retirement in 1990. Gloria was married to John B. Tabor, Jr., from 1964 until his passing in 1990. She attended Bethel United Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, KS, prior to moving to John Knox Village.
Gloria had a beautiful voice and loved singing especially as her father accompanied her on the piano. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and other family members and visited many places around the world.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marilyn White and brothers Ronald Lane and Gordon Lane. She is survived by nieces and nephews Janet LaCelle (Herkimer, NY), Rosalyn White (Ilion, NY), Russell Kent Vogel (Independence, MO), Gordon Lane, Jr., Tammy Lucas, Jeffrey Lane, Susan Reitemeier (Ed)(Kansas City, KS), Sandra Tabor (John Ellis) (Christiansted, USVI).
Services will be held on February 26 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10-11 am with services and burial following at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Serving as pallbearers are Edward Reitemeier, Matthew Reitemeier, Kent Vogel, Joe Perry, Gordon Lane, Jr. and Jeffrey Lane.
