Georgia L. Bartimus, 83, of Polo, MO passed away December 4, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017 with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the service all at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Hospital Hospice.
Georgia was born October 15, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Albert and Marguerite Caton. She married the love of her life, Charles Bartimus on October 4, 1951 after meeting when Charles came down to assist with flood recovery. Georgia worked a variety of jobs, but started driving a school bus for KCK and Turner in 1965. Her main focus in life was her family and her husband. She loved quilting and shopping “til she dropped.” Georgia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Lathrop Antique Car, Tractor and Engine Association since 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rena Lindsay; her grandson, Jason McGovern; and her great-grandson, Andre Neighbors.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Charles Bartimus; her children, Michael A. Bartimus (Brenda Reynolds), Karen A. McGovern (Jerry), and Sheila D. Hamm (Chuck); her sister, Shirley Gross (Jimmy Wagner); her brother, Buddy Caton (Nancy); as well as seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and other relatives and many friends.
