He was a lifelong area resident, attending Wyandotte High School before needing to leave school to support his family. During that time, he met Mary Lane, the love of his life, and he married her on April 26th, 1957, which was shortly before shipping off to Korea, where he served his country in the United States Army. After his return to the states, he became a roofer and worked for the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers Local 20 for over 50 years before he retired to a consultant in 1996. George was a NASCAR Fan, and enjoyed watching College Softball, which was a sport he became interested in while watching his daughter play all of her games. He enjoyed Ballroom and Swing Dancing with his beloved, and not ever being one to sit still, always kept busy. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his lawn as well as washing and taking care of his automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver Von Der Bruegge and 2 sisters, Dianna Calhoon & Jackie Von Der Bruegge.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Mary E.
