George L. Rodina was born April 5, 1918 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Marko and Julia (Radmilowic) Rodina. A lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas, he attended the Kansas City Kansas schools and was an Army Veteran of WWII; serving from 1940 to 1945. After returning to Kansas City, he worked for General Motors for 22 years where he made airplanes and cars. He also worked as the Stadium Manager for the Kansas City Athletics. He later worked for The Department of Health, Education and Welfare, until his retirement. After retiring, he worked as a delivery person. He was a member of the Stony Point Baptist Church, enjoyed bowling, football and baseball and supported the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his wife: Retha Rodina; parents: Marko and Julia Rodina; brothers and sister-in-laws: Nick and wife Mary, Tony and wife Dorothy and Frank and wife Mary; sister: Millie and her husband Matt Pavich; Son-in-law: Frank G. Pruitt. George is survived by his children: Curtis Rodina and Dixie Pruitt, both of Kansas City, Kansas; brother and sister-in-law: John and Ruby Rodina from California; grandchildren: Dean Rodina and wife Christine of Brush, Colorado, Travis Fittro and wife Leslie of St. Charles, Missouri, Raymond Thaxton and wife Babette of Kansas City, Kansas, Randy Thaxton and wife Poma of Hiawatha, Kansas, Ricky Thaxton and wife Iris of Kansas City, Kansas, Retha Chalker and husband Preston of Shawnee, Kansas and Ronnie Pruitt of Leavenworth, Kansas; special niece: Lavina “Deanie” Emrick of Kansas City, Missouri and special nephew: Albert Pavich and his wife Josephine of Kansas City, Missouri; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
