Genevieve Payne

Genevieve Payne, 97, of KCK, passed away October 7, 2013 at home. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS.

Genevieve was born March 3, 1916 in Columbia, South Dakota to William and Cora Bell Jones. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1947 and worked for Dr. Kubitschek as a Dental Assistant and then at Trinity Methodist until her retirement in 1987. Genevieve was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and a former President of American Business Women’s Association. She was on the Board of Directors of the YWCA and was once selected as the Woman of the Year. Genevieve was a member of the Hyacinth Chapter of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed handiwork and crafts and loved flowers of all kinds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cora Bell Jones; husband, Henry Payne, sister, Madora Woolery and daughter, Ardath Meyer.

Genevieve is survived by her son-in-law, Richard Meyer, grandsons, Doug Meyer and his wife Carol, Kevin Meyer and his wife Shanna; six great-grandchildren, Arlene, Mason, Garret, William, Brooke and Nichole; as well as two great great-grandchildren, Ryan and Benjamin.
