Gary leaves a legacy of love and integrity with his family and those who knew him. He has left behind wonderful memories of a loving husband, son, father, and grandfather. We are grateful for each and every day we go to see his glowing smile, and for the lessons learned and all the fun we shared.
Gary Lee Stauch, 63, of Tonganoxie, Kansas went home to be with his Lord on October 30, 2020. Due to restrictions, there will be a small private service on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Born to James and Norma Stauch, he grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He was baptized and confirmed at Wesley United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Schlagle high school in 1975 and then attended the University of Kansas.
Gary worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System for 31 years as the roofing foreman until he retired in 2016 and for the last five years as a roofing consultant. He married Susan Lenon on June 4, 2005. He raised four beautiful children and accepted as his own, a step-daughter. Together they have 5 (1/2) grandchildren whom he loved and adored.
Gary was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas where he served as Trustee for many years.
He leaves behind his wife, Susan Stauch; his father, James Stauch; his daughters, Jill Snow, Alicia Turner, Kelley Henderson, and Amanda Dowdall; his son, Nathan Stauch; son-in-laws, Jeff Snow, John Turner, Tyler Dowdall, and Jordan Henderson; brother-in-law, Keven Pender; his grandchildren, Cooper Snow, Ethan Snow, Liesl Turner, Maren Turner, Lena Dowdall, and baby Henderson; aunts, Vickie Durham and Carol Schmitz; and uncle, Mile Chmitz; numerous nieces and nephews and many many dearly loved friends.
This short obituary cannot do justice to a life so well lived, for Gary was a man of principle, conviction, strength, love, humor, and integrity, but above all of these he was a man of faith.
Gary’s ability to make everyone feel secure and loved were his greatest strengths. Colossians 3:12, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
For as long as I knew him, Gary followed Jesus as best he knew how, and was absolutely devoted to his Christian faith. 1 Kings 8:61, “Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.”
He was my steadfast rock that helped me through thick and thin. Gary supported and loved his family, and was always there to help navigate us through life’s challenges. 1 Timothy 3:4, “He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, an d he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.”
Gary set an exemplary example as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was spiritually strong and compassionate, and had a clever sense of humor. Above all, he loved and cherished his family and friends. Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”
Gary was absolutely not perfect, and he’d be the first to tell you that, but he was not ashamed to be called a follower of Christ. Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
And the Master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
