As anyone who knew Gary was aware, he always loved working with his hands on any array of projects.
I may have shared this before, and if so forgive the repeat.  But I was  reminded of Gary just a couple of days ago when I happened to find a belt he had made for me back when we were in college during his leather working project phase.  There just wasn't much he wouldn't tackle.
 Funny how small things can transport us back into the days of our youth with those we shared it with so long ago.
It's a reminder of just how precious and fleeting this life on earth is. 
Someday I hope to be able to wear that belt again.

Two years since you left us, buddy. But I have experienced your presence many times since then.  Whenever I hear a song you loved or listen to a new musician you would like. Thanks for being there. Miss you.

Renee is my best friend in the whole wide world, and because of that, Gary became a true friend.  He created the most beautiful built-in cabinets for my home many years ago, and I still hate that I could not take them with me when I moved to another state.  He always welcomed me in their home on my visits and made me smile.  

I had known Les in Jr. and Sr. High and met Gary thru Les with he came to Emporia.  We ended up being roommates for a couple of years there and had a lot of memories as a result.   Gary was always interested in crafts and working with his hands.   I remember when it flooded in Emporia, and he saw an opportunity  to use the canoe he had made while in high school,  so he went home and brought it down to school and  we paddled around the flooded area of the campus for a few days.  The next year, he got interested in leather craft,  and he started making belts.  I've still got mine  (won't fit anymore).  The man had skills.  
My prayers are with Renee and the family.  I know that he will be missed.


Gary we will always remember your smile.  You were such a loving and kind person.   You weathered the storms of life.  You will be missed.

Gary was not only a colleague but a true friend, always willing to help solve IT problems .  We know Gary is in a better place but our sorrow and pain is still great. He was a gentleman and scholar, gone to soon.   Praying the Lord will hold you, the family,  especially close and comfort you through the coming days..

I worked with Gary early on at KCSI and 14 years later at KCS. Gary was easy going, well versed in the railroad, and a good friend.  I'll miss hearing about his baseball days and his work on his hot rod. I'm always amazed when I remember his story about pitching entire 18 innings in a day.  Rest peacefully Gary you'll be missed.

Im so sad to hear of Gary’s passing. Gary was a kind, humble and talented friend. We had some good times going back to high school and Emporia. He will be missed. My condolences to Renee, family and friends.

Gray was a truly kind hearted person.  When I was the new kid on the block at work he made me feel at home.  Prayers for Renee and the family.

My first memories of Gary “Andy” go back to rooming with him at college, his old Chevy “Apache” PU, fishing and camping around Emporia, going to great concerts, sharing a love of the same types of music and a wee bit of partying🎉🥳. 

Gary was a true craftsmen, overbuilding, taking his time to “do it right”.  I remember his ”camping box” he made for his PU.  Meticulous and organized. He redesigned and modified a walnut desk I made in HS. Still have it in our home.  That was 45 years ago.  And his gorgeous Old Town canoe he restored. WOW!

But most important was our relationship. 3 years ago I called Andy and informed him we were going  to the Winfield bluegrass festival in 2019, and we did. Thank you, Renee, for insisting he go.  And we went again last fall.  A year ago I called Andy and Bruce (another college roomate) with an idea to go fishing in Alaska last summer. To my surprise, they both said yes, thanks  again to Renee for insisting!  Trip of a lifetime for all of us!  Each of these trips, I thought, could be our last together. And we got 3 of them!  Thank you, God!

Gary had more health issues than 20 people put together but he continued to persevere with not nearly the complaint that 99% of people would have. 

I already miss him terribly but I’m gonna keep on playing music and doing the stuff we always used to do together knowing that he still has that sh__ eating smile and distinctively Andy laugh and that keeps him right at my side. Love you, buddy!

So sorry to hear about Gary.  I worked with him for several years at KC Southern.  A really good guy!

I worked with Gary for about 20 years.  Gary helped pioneer computer systems for the railroad industry.  We worked hard but we had fun.  Gary was a friend.

Renee has been a friend since Hazel Grove.  Gary, not as much.  It was that old Coronado-Arrowhead rivalry. I can remember punching at each other at the bottom of a dog pile, scrapping for a fumble.  Then by chance, we sat next to each other in 9th grade watching Washington defeat Wyandotte in basketball, 62-61.  We high fived and by sophomore year, we were friends and teammates in everything.  Gary became "Andy", except to his older brother Les, who referred to him as "Little Milt".  I miss them all.

We were heartbroken to learn of Gary's passing.  He was one of the good guys!  Gary had a dry wit and a heart of gold.  He was such a talented person.  Gary could design and build anything, but he was always humble about his abilities.  Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Our deepest sympathy to Renee, Matt, and Cam.

I will remember his devotion to  his craft/hobby of wood working.  He was always doing something...making something...improving something. He loved the out doors. He loved socializing with friends.  He was so smart and comfortable around computers, you would`t know it because he was quiet about all his accomplishments.  I will miss knowing he`s a force for good now gone.
