Eugene K. "Jack/Gene" Moore, 94, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on April 16, 2016 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, Missouri. The visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10-11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both at Maple Hill Funeral Home located at 3300 Shawnee Drive in Kansas City, Kansas 66106. The burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located at 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Jack was born March 11, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas to Fred and Bertha (Bernard) Moore. At five months of age, his father passed away. Four years later, Bertha married Ellis Baldwin who Jack always referred to as, "Dad." He attended Turner High School, graduating in 1942, where he met Reva Jean Blansit, who would become his wife of 45 years, until her death in 1991. Together, they had five children. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946, stationed in England during WWII. During the war, he refueled B17 and B24 bombers, and as a Thompson Sub Machine Gun expert, he was issued a machine gun mounted jeep in which he delivered bombing missions to various headquarters. His duties there brought him in contact with several famous people, including General Jimmy Doolittle, actor, Jimmy Stewart and the future Queen of England, Princess Elizabeth. After the military, Jack came home and worked as a butcher in the family grocery store. Soon after, he became a realtor for 25 years, then a building inspector for the City of Kansas City, Kansas, and his last job was with MO/KAN Imports as a delivery driver until the age of 89. Known by many as, "the lawnmower guy," Jack loved selling things from his driveway of the house he built in 1947 in Turner. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Wayne Baldwin; wife, Reva; son, Larry and his granddaughter, Bree Vail. Survivors include his children, Cindi Hall (Ron), Curt Moore (fiance Sheryl Klinkenborg), Becky Tanner (Rick), and Stephanie Vaught; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
