Ethel E. Dunn, 95, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away February 13, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 18th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Ethel was born February 15, 1917 in Burden, Kansas to Rosco and Mary (Rodman) Head. She grew up in Cedarville, Kansas and graduated from Cedarville High School in 1935. Ethel married the love of her life, Joseph W. Dunn in 1943. She started working at a young age, in an employment agency and later as a document processor for an insurance company where she retired in the early 1970s. She was very active as a secretary in the Grange organization and the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Ethel loved quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading, bingo, pinochle and listening to Alan Jackson’s music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosco and Mary Head, her husband, Joseph W. Dunn in 1991, her siblings, Mildred Elliott and Sylvester, Otis, Delbert and Stanley Head.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Nancy Doyle and her husband Larry; granddaughters, Jeri Doyle and Matthew Cecil, Sara Meylan and husband Drew; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Gabe, Jack, Cody, Lily as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
