

Erma Jean Thomas, 87, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 30th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Jean was born May 29, 1925 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to B. F. and Pearl Martin, and had been a resident of both Oklahoma and the Kansas City Area at different times during her life. She grew up and attended school in Oklahoma, and she had most recently been a Kansas City Resident for the past 6 years. She had worked as both a Daycare Attendant and a School Crossing Guard. She had been a member of Member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Jean enjoyed shopping, especially for clothes, but she also enjoyed collecting antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Thomas; her daughter, Barbara Ann King; and a grandson, Derrick L. King.
Survivors include her great-grandson, Derrick King; a great-granddaughter, Barbara King; her son-in-law, John King, Sr.; granddaughter-in-law, Phelisha Cope; and several good friends, including Sue Allen, James Brown, Minnie Cobbins, Jessie Bell Reed, and Clyde.
