Katherine was born December 5, 1929 in Black Rock, Arkansas to Jesse and Katie Holder. She lived in Arkansas until she was fourteen years old when the family moved to Illinois.
During World War II, Katherine’s mother suggested she write to a service man, who was a friend of her brothers, and encourage him during his time away in service. That man was Neal Davis. When Neal was discharged from the Navy in 1946, he went to visit Katherine in Illinois. They started dating and on March 16, 1947, they married. During their 69 years of marriage, they lived in Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, and eventually Kansas City where they lived for 65 years.
Katherine was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking them wonderful meals and delicious desserts. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and had wonderful memories from her trip to St. Thomas and three different trips to Hawaii. She was a wonderful example of a faithful wife and dedicated mother, as well as doting grandmother. She claimed she did not have a favorite child or grandchild and loved them all the same. Katherine was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Neal; her parents, Jesse and Katie Holder; one sister, and six brothers.
Left to cherish her memory is her four children; Diane Leslie (Jim) of Bland, VA, Wayne Davis (LeeAnn) of Lenexa, KS, Gary Davis (Lana) of Lenexa, KS, and Cathy Todd (Mark) of Olathe, KS; as well as eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
