Dora Mae Currie, 88, Lenexa, Kansas passed away October 22, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
Dora Mae was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 31, 1932 to Dorian and Trella Ricord. She graduated Valedictorian from Rosedale High School, Class of 1950. She then attended KU for two years and then went to Pittsburgh State and graduated with a degree in education. Dora Mae later received her Master’s Degree from UMKC.
Dora Mae was a very active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Kansas for over 60 years. She was a career educator with the Kansas City, Kansas school system starting off as a third grade teacher and working her way to become Principal of Hazel Grove Elementary, where she retired.
Dora Mae was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Stephen.
Survivors include son, John; daughters-in-law, Susan and Kathy; grandchildren, Angela, Sam, Emma, Nick, Andrea, and Jackie; and great grandchildren, Hank, Iris, Kiersten, and Avery.
