Donald William Hamilton

Donald William Hamilton, 82, passed away August 10, 2016. A visitation will be held Friday, August 12th from 5:00-8:00pm and the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm at St. Pius X, 5500 Woodson Road, Mission, Kansas 66202. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 13th at 10:00am at St. Pius X followed by inurnment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Donald was born July 29, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to William Lloyd and Zelma Irene (Lane) Hamilton. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Central Jr. High and Argentine High School. Donald served in the United States Marine Corp for 3 years, when he received an honorable discharge. Donald served as Captain with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department for 32 years. He also umpired and refereed for 20 years. Donald was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas, St. Patrick’s in Laurie, Missouri and later a member at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mission, Kansas as well as American Legion Post 111 and 624. In his free time, Donald coached little league and played softball for many years including the over 50 senior league.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hamilton; children, Kathy (Ron) Stafford of Overland Park, Pamela (Jimmy) Quinn of Bolivar, Missouri, Cheryl Kirkwood of Hudson, Wisconsin, Donald (Michelle) Hamilton, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, and Jeffrey (Kelley) Hamilton of Kansas City, Kansas, Mike (Pat) McBratney of Kansas City, Kansas, Ann-Marie (Brian) Moore of Kansas City, Kansas, Kathleen (Joe) Huerter of Lenexa, Kansas and Jim (Molly) McBratney of Merriam, Kansas; 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
