David Francis Robinson, 91, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on November 20, 2017. David was born in Lincoln Co., MO on February 13, 1926, son of Frank and Bessie Lavy Robinson. After graduating from Buchanan High School of Troy, MO, he entered the US Navy V-12 officer’s training program in 1943. While in the V-12 program, he attended the University of New Mexico and Iowa State College. David served as an Ensign Communications officer aboard the USS Wisconsin battleship. After leaving the Navy in 1947, he met his great love, Emma Jeanne Crum in Indianapolis and they married on September 10, 1950. David began employment at Equitable Life Assurance Society in 1948. He briefly left Equitable to pursue a degree in Business from the University of Missouri, returning to The Equitable upon graduation. He served in management at The Equitable until retiring in 1984.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jeanne. David had three brothers, Derwood, Paul, and Shelby (all deceased), and two sisters, Julia Fiorito of St. Charles, MO, and Betty Fucoloro of St. Louis, MO. David is also survived by two sons, Daniel of Tucson, AZ, and James of Overland Park, KS; two grandsons, Christopher of Phoenix, AZ, and Casey of Alexandria, VA; and two great-grandchildren.
David was an active member of Legacy Christian Church of Overland Park, KS. He will be remembered as a dedicated Christian and for his love of country. David served as an assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 47 in Kansas City, KS in the 1960’s. He was loved by all who knew him. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1pm, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Legacy Christian Church, 10150 Antioch Rd., Overland Park, KS 66212. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, KS.
