Darlene (Chuckie) Virginia Adams, age 98, of Kansas City, Kansas peacefully passed away on August 19th, 2022 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Macular Degeneration Research.
Darlene was born on October 29th, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri. She began her working career at Safeway as a Retail Food Chain Cashier and became an active member in the AFL-CIO Union where she became a Senior Union Counselor. She retired in January of 1979. She was quite the workaholic and overachiever so retirement was short. She went back to work at the Shawnee Mission Public Schools Food Service where she was affectionately nicknamed "Chuckie" for her upbeat attitude and constant smile. She was awarded the "Outstanding Employee" at Mceachen School in 2007-2008. She retired in August of 2009.
Darlene was active in her community being a member of the Eastern Star, Leavenworth Road Association, and the Ladies Business Association. She was active at the Abundant Life Church of Overland Park. She spent her spare time cheering for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs as well as learning a new skill of how to create artificial flower arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy McCutcheon; granddaughter, Shea (Brett) Harrel; and two great grandsons, Remy Turpin and Brogan Turpin.
