Cynthia Kay Sayles (Cindy, Cynde) was born November 11, 1949. Cynthia was the 5th of 11 children. She attended Douglass Elementary, Grant Elementary, North East Junior High and graduated from Sumner High class of 1967, Kansas City, Kansas. Cynthia earned her Bachelor's Degree from Emporia State Teachers College in Special Education and taught most of her teaching career at Central High School, Kansas City, Missouri.
Before retiring for medical reasons, Cynthia was a very knowledgeable teacher, forever keeping up in her field of studies. Cynthia was loved by all her students and treated each one with the utmost compassion. Cynthia was Teacher of the Year in the Kansas City, Missouri school system which we all celebrated with her as it was a great honor and one of many highlights of her teaching career.
Cynthia was a very generous person, always going that extra mile whenever she could. Cynthia was a Foster Mother to many and very family oriented. Cynthia accepted Christ and was Baptized at Eight Street Baptist Church as a youth. She professed and trusted Christ as Lord of her life during her long illness.
Cynthia was Blessed with two children, Ywan K. Sayles and Lonita E. Cook and 11 Grandchildren. Cynthia was preceded in death by both parents, Lester Sr. and Genevieve Sayles, and beloved sister, Deborah R. Sayles. She leaves to cherish precious memories siblings, Ethel M. Sayles Chapell, Margarette E. Sayles-Harrison (Toke), Lester E. Sayles, Jr., Nolan L. Sayles (Sylvia), Robert W. Sayles (Charlotte), Karl W. Sayles, Eugetta D. Thompson, Eugenia G. Morrow, Derrick H. Sayles. Foster sister Christine L. Allen and a host of nephews, nieces, foster children and other extended family and friends.
