Bobby Lee Bennett age 88 passed away on Saturday June 3, 2023. Bob was born in Arma Kansas to Gordon and Alice Bennett. Bob’s family moved to Kansas City KS and the family lost their house in the 1951 flood.
Bob married Ruth Kell, the love of his life on June 7, 1953. They have 2 children Ronnie and Rebecca and loving cared for fourteen foster children over the years.
Bob worked at Owens Corning for 36 years from 1952 until he retired in 1989.
He proudly served his country in the Army for 2 years stationed at Fort Gordon, Fort Stewart, Fort Carson and Fort Bragg with Company C 4th Medium Tank Battalion 68th Armor Regiment.
Bob was a member of Nall Ave Baptist Church at the time of passing and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was an ordained Deacon. In his younger years he worked with young men at Bethel Baptist Church Royal Ambassadors, attending church camps, serving on Mexico and Venezuela with building/Medical teams. He loved to talk with people and share stories. He never knew a stranger.
Bob loved to travel, work with his hands and loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening, painting and riding the mower but his all-time love was bowling for over 30 years forever chasing the 300 game. He loved watching his favorite sports teams Kansas Jayhawks, wave that wheat Bobby. Also loved watching the Chiefs and KC Royals.
Bob loved to have visits from his grandchild and play with the great grandchildren.
Bob also volunteered for Red Cross, Southern Baptist Disaster Response Team and Webster Conference Center in Salina, Kansas. In 2003 Bob & Ruth were honored as the 2003 Community Service Volunteers of the Year for the Red Cross.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Bennett, Larry Bennett, Jimmy Tolliver and sisters Deana Bond & Shirley Ryan. He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Ronnie Bennett and Rebecca Weber (Pete Weber), his grandchild Jeffery Bennett and 4 great grandchildren Shayla, Ava, Oscar and Isaak.

A visitation for Bobby will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 10;00-11:00 AM at Nall Avenue Baptist Church, 6701 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, KS 66208, Service to follow at 11:00 am at the Church. Burial in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
