Anna McGraw, 92, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away August 31, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Sat., Sept. 5th at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, 7500 W Camp Wisdom Rd., Dallas, TX 75236.
Anna was born March 9, 1923 in Warrensburg, MO to Emanuel and Julia Kallaras. She graduated as Valedictorian from Wyandotte High School and married John McGraw in February of 1943. Anna was a pioneer in information technology, working as a programmer and systems analyst at Westinghouse Flight Test Division, First National Bank of Kansas City, MO, Honolulu Savings and Loan, and Johnson County Court Systems. She was a founding member and part owner of DSI, a KC headquartered software company, before her retirement in 1988. After retirement, Anna volunteered for over ten years as a systems analyst for Wycliffe Bible Translators. Over the years, she attended Wolcott Baptist Church, Fairfield Baptist Church in Houston and finally Lenexa Baptist Church. She was passionate about serving the Lord as a choir director, Sunday school teacher and loved engaging people in spiritual conversation. Anna loved astronomy, playing the piano, and singing, especially in a trio with her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Julia Kallaras; her beloved husband, John McGraw; her sisters, Katherine Bocell and Betty Lou Kallaras; and her son-in-law, Terry Cook.
Anna is survived by her children, Marcia Cook, Mike McGraw (Janice), and Joe McGraw (Darlene); her sister, Connie Shotwell; her grandchildren, Kristianne Wargo (Brad), Vincent Cook, Kimberly Wisener, Matt McGraw (Mellisa), Jim McGraw, Mari Butler (Curt), Jon McGraw (Gretchen), Beth Meysenburg (Jason), and Susie Kluttz (Ryan); as well as twenty-one great-grandchildren and many other friends and family.
