Rod was born on Oahu, eldest son to Edward Cho Yen Chai and Alice Goo Chai on January 25, 1943. Rod is a 1960 Roosevelt (English Standard) High School graduate. Rod attended the University of Hawaii, Manoa, excelling in the study of economics and electrical engineering.
Rod initiated his career with Dun & Bradstreet as a business analyst, then General Realty to follow. As a top real estate salesperson, Rod quickly arose to Broker-in-Charge.
On January 9, 1976, Rod founded Realty Specialists Corporation “RSC”, establishing multiple office locations on both Oahu and neighbor islands, with 100s of real estate sales agents; and Management Specialists Company “MSC” its successful property management division.
Subsequently, RSC joined the Century 21 franchise, with Rod Chai as Principal Broker of Century 21 Realty Specialists Corporation, achieving Centurion status for multiple years.
Rod is survived by: Wife Bev, brother Darryl (Margaret), daughter Paris; oldest son Scott (Anne), youngest son Daniel; and granddaughter Emmalee-Rose.
