December 15, 1951 - April 10, 2020
Raymond Richard Rapoza Jr. passed away peacefully on April 10, 2020 at the age of 68.
He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 15, 1951 to the late Raymond & Winona
Rapoza.
Raymond was a graduate of Castle High School. He owned Windward Auto Repair and
later worked at Chrysler then Windward Nissan. Being an excellent mechanic was just one
of his many and pronounced capabilities. He was just as accomplished at electrical
installation, masonry, welding, plumbing and carpentry/construction and was often called
upon by family and friends for help. Quick to respond, Ray would always lend his
expertise and skills to rescue those in need and was known by all as a man of integrity,
kindness and aloha. Ray was a licensed pilot, enjoyed the stock car races and also drag-raced
his ’57 Chevy and gas-rail at Campbell Industrial Park. He loved building and riding
go-karts, golfing, fishing, playing guitar, and, perhaps most of all, playing Keno in Las
Vegas. Though he was in constant pain in recent years and not able to do many of the
things he loved, he rarely complained. He was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle and
friend. He will be deeply missed by us all.
He is survived by wife Evelyn Rapoza, sisters Trude (Tom) Kalihi, Donna (Francis)
Kamali’i, brother Douglas (Assumpta) Rapoza, 7nieces & nephews, 9 grand-nieces &
nephews, and 1 great-grand-niece.
Raymond was preceded in passing by sister Sheila Puana and brother Chris.
A Memorial Service will be held after social gathering restrictions are lifted.
