Just wanted to let family know I found this is New Jersey

I just learned of Peter’s passing.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  I knew him in high school; we lived in the same neighborhood in Kensington.  I will always remember his kindness and that sweet smile.  I have never forgotten him throughout all these years.

Peter Ono was kind, always funny, gentle with the challenges of others, of course handsome, athletic as hell, on the EC Football team but mainly a team player, meaning not the selfish player but the genuine supportive player. He was the quite guy… with a  deep heart, full of  athletic and academic ability,  talent but never self serving…  and full of  a thoughtful heart . 
I only got to know him because he shared his answers with me in our Physics class … or was it Chemistry???? 😉. But for sure,  Without his assistance and allowing me to peek at his answers on our exams… I’m pretty sure I would’ve failed the course. 
Blessings to you Tina…. You had the opportunity to have a wonderful man by your side… or at least that’s my view…

Over the past year, I took on a "small project" that had me working with Peter.  Honestly, I was in a rough spot in my career and hindsight makes this skeptical soul wonder if it was providence that our paths crossed.  

Peter was serving in an advisory role on the project. He really didn't need to do it, but he was relieving others who had enough on their plate. He made it abundantly clear in his humorous, sarcastic, yet warm and sunny way that he was concerned about the project.  The subtext I saw from that concern was Peter looking out for the young PM who was assigned to the project. 

I could tell from my short time with him that he was always willing to stand up and fight for what's right.  He stood tall and took his steps with purpose.  His presence on calls was always unmistakably comforting and reassuring, even when he was questioning and teasing along my and others' thoughts to make sure whatever outcome we arrived at we would be willing to stand by it.

My very last call with him, I never imagined would have been my last, was filled with empathy and well wishes for my family member who had just fallen ill.  He stood by us rain or shine, never forcing our steps, but walking with us so gently, lovingly, and with just that special amount of wit and humor to put our hearts and minds at ease even when they felt so heavy.

If there's a better place, I know you're there, Peter, because you made this a better place.  You made us better people.  I hope and pray that if it was indeed providence that brought us together, providence will have us meet again.  Farewell until then.

Peter, when I think first of you my mind goes first to your wonderful and seemingly ever-present smile.  Bright but slightly mischievous, your smile was always a source of positive energy for me in so many of our little group adventures.  Sometimes things wouldn't be going so great, or I'd be tired and I'd glance around, and see you smiling... and it would make me relax and be happy.    I have so very many great memories of time spent with you. Thank you Peter, my life was better and richer for having known you and being able to spend time in your company.  I look forward to seeing you on the other side.  Like Iz said, "keep the stew hot for us".  love you, John



Thank you Peter for all the good you brought to this world. Such an inspiration and lovely person. 

Peter epitomized what a great person should be. He was always patient, kind, and understanding. As a young engineer in Honolulu, Peter always took care of me, encouraged me, and supported me in good times and bad. Peter, you were such a great guy and made everyone’s lives more full. A hui hou kakou, my friend, I will see you again someday.

Uncle Pete is one of the kindest, funny, warm people I have ever met. Whenever we were all able to be together for the holidays, it was always so much lighter with him there. I remember the Christmas eve roast and Christmas day breakfasts that we all shared together. I’ll remember our trips to Golden Palace and Little Hong Kong and our after Christmas trips to the outlets. But what I will remember the most is his smile and how it would truly lighten any room or mood. I will miss him so much.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Peter's passing.  Our thoughts and prayers to Tina and the entire family.

Peter was a good friend & colleague.  I remember meeting Gar Jones for the first time and he was pleasant but somewhat distant since I was a salesperson. However the next time I met him he acted like  I was an old friend. I knew that Peter must have talked to him and spoke up in my favor. It was always great to see both Peter and Tina at the HWEA golf tournaments and what an entertaining competition that they with themselves. I will miss my friend very much. All our love & aloha to his family... Scotty & Linda.
