Luana was predeceased by her husband Albert Costa, her son Scott Stancil and daughter Leiticia Meheula.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses Guy, Mark and (Cathy), Michael and (Deena) Stancil; daughters Charmaine (Lime), Danielle Flavin and Luana (Estocado); sister Loretta (Rellez); brother and his spouse Lyle and (Kehau) Duvauchelle.
Luana is also lovingly remembered by 29 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and many grand nieces and nephews; not forgetting to mention countless friends who have been blessed by her presence in their lives.
She was born in Honolulu, HI on March 11, 1936; attended and finished grammar school at Holomua Elementary on the island of Molokai and after attending Mid Pac Institute, Kamehameha Schools for Girls and Castle High School on Oahu, she graduated from Molokai High School on June 7, 1953 and went on to work at several occupations and self-employment endeavors retired to stay home and take care of her late husband.
Luana had many interests and enjoyed several hobbies and activities such as singing with her Dad in his band when she was a little girl as well as singing praise and worship in church as an adult. Knitting and crocheting was another hobby she was passionate about. Whether it was graduation lei for friends and family or little booties for premature babies born at a certain hospital she would volunteer to make them at her own expense. Another one of her passions was studying and researching the Word of God. Because of this God worked mightily in the many lives of not only friends and family but also many strangers that she encountered during her lifetime.
The visitation and remembrance of life services will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Chapel in Kaneohe, HI on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 9am-12:30pm followed by a 1pm burial service at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery on the grounds of Hawaiian Memorial Park. Remembrance and burial services will be officiated by Pastor Frank Diehl from the Tree of Life Christian Center.
