passed away at the age of 68.
Jack was born in Honolulu on November 13, 1950 to Koon Tuck Lum and Tung Yet Lee. He was
a graduate of McKinley High School and went on to attend Leeward Community College and the
University of Hawaii. Jack met his wife, Frances Joy Chow Wong, while he was working in the
campus mail room, and they went on to marry on August 1, 1976. They enjoyed 43 happy years
together. He retired as a Systems Analyst for the State of Hawaii after 34 years.
Whenever possible, Jack was either fishing at the beach or at home practicing ukulele.
At various times, he was also a green-thumb gardener and served as Boy Scout Troop 42 Assistant
Scout Master to support his son Aaron. He was a member of Lung Kong Physical Culture
Club where he practiced kung fu and lion dancing, as well as Qigong and Tai Chi student. A Mr. "Fix-It"
woodworker, he did everything from home repairs to crafting his own uke, to making the bed
frames his two children slept in while growing up. A parishioner at St. Stephens Catholic
Church, he served as an usher and volunteered as part of the "kitchen gang." He was the
beloved "Bubbie" to his two granddaughters. Jack was known for his willingness to say "yes"
whenever help was needed; always ready to generously share his time and talent. He was a
treasure to all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife Frances, children Anne and Aaron, grandchildren Emi and Eri,
and brother James.
