October 6, 1949-May 29, 2022, of Kailua, Hawaii
Foodie, Master Mechanic, Budweiser Connoisseur, Comedian, and accomplished kukui nut scrubbah
Survived by Sons, Gus Kamika Cobb-Adams Jr. & James Poheepalikekuailiahi Cobb-Adams, Brothers, Honi Cobb-Adams, Gerry Cobb-Adams and Sisters, Gertrude "Nudy" Kam and Kehaulani Kahookano
Gus, Kamika, Grampee, Pops, Pappy, Uncle Kamika, Uncle Mik, or Gus-Aguchi as he often jokingly referred to himself; was a retired automotive mechanic born and raised in Kailua.
For those of us who knew him best, knew him as the big hearted, dirty, x-rated version of Rap Replinger. With a sense of humor so raw that any family member with a new girlfriend or boyfriend who had the distinct pleasure of meeting him had to receive "the brief". This forewarning was to warn that individual that there was nothing off-limits. If you were chunky, skinny, good-looking, not good looking, had big lips, whatever. You got the immediate nickname, "Tundah Thighs", "Squid Lips", "Pig Nuts", etc based on your particular attribute. Nothing was off limits with Pops and having thick skin was a requirement.
Like all Cobb-Adams, Dad loved to cook and eat. Besides his love for fresh fish, vienna sausage, spicy shoyu, beef stew, poi, canned salmon with mayonnaise and soda crackers. He prided himself on the best inamona in the state of Hawaii. In fact, during his later years, one could often find him in his garage preparing the delectable poke staple; And when asked what he was up to, he would reply, "ah, just scrubbing my NUTS!".
Pops had a style like no other. His favorite style that he loved more than anything was his favorite sweater, which was made entirely from body hair. Dad never wore a shirt and was the hairiest Podagee next to Frank Delima. You could always catch him in his favorite gym shorts, local style flat brim hat, no-mo shirt, chihuahua dogs at his feet and Hawaiian flag waving behind his electric scooter. Not to mention his favorite Budweiser sixer in his basket. Dad lived and walked to his own tune, and no one could tell him different.
Despite his irrational fear that his family might bury him in the backyard with a duct-taped stick for a cross and a couple Budweiser cans. We invite all who knew him to share in his memorial and celebration of life on July 8, 2022.
Dad's Memorial will be held off the waters of Lanipo right-of-way in Lanikai, where his ashes will be scattered.
Followed by a Celebration of Life reception at his home, 419 Iliaina St. Kailua at 4pm.
Dad, your legacy of giving, classic x-rated jokes and memories will live in our hearts forever.
