Donna Arlene Letain Carlbom, 84, went home to be with her Lord Jesus while surrounded by love and family on April 7, 2023. She was born on August 25, 1938 in Winnipeg, Canada to Hazel and Rene Letain.
Donna is survived by her husband Ernest of sixty-nine years, five children Barbara (Joel), Lance, Lisa (David), Eric (Mahealani) and Norman (Terri), seventeen grandchildren, and thirty-two great grandchildren.
Donna is remembered, as someone who truly enjoyed life, was always laughing and bringing smiles and joy wherever she went. She loved playing games and could get very competitive.
Donna is remembered for her big heart full of love and care for others. A heart that loved her family, loved God, loved life and was filled with joy.
Donna grew up in a small northern town in Canada, called Sioux Lookout. She lived on a small farm outside of town where her stepfather, Rene raised chickens for a living. This is probably where her love of animals and farm living began.
On May 25, 1952 Donna met the love of her life, Ernie, at a dance at the town community center. Ernie noticed her beautiful smile and built up enough courage to ask for a dance. This was the beginning of a lifetime of love that lasted 71 years.
She was a loving mother of her five children and her greatest joy was sharing in their lives and in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The home she made was a place where many gathered and were made to feel loved and welcomed. Those that knew her loved her and lovingly called her Mom, Grandma, or "Mrs C."
She will be remembered for a heart filled with love, her joyous smile, love for her Savior Jesus and a life that gave honor and Glory to God.
