Dianne Jane Martin, 74 of Kaneohe, Hawaiʻi passed away peacefully in our home with loved ones by her side just 2 days before her birthday on Aug 28, 2022. She was born on August 30, 1947 to Hazel Ah See Young Goo and Frank Perreira Martin of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Since she lost her beloved mother at the tender age of 7 years, she was raised by Vicky and Evert Curtis and Florence and George Chun who are all deceased. Despite being raised primarily by other loving family members, she deeply loved her daddy and they shared a very special bond. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Linda Hazel Kahalopuna Kahoʻolemana Martin, hānai daughter, “Koko” Leilani Hackney, and two godsons, Joshua Martin and Christian Hamana. Siblings: Betty Mariani (deceased), Julie Collins, Maxine Blanchard, Gary Martin, Claudia Gordon, Lurline “Aunty Lu” Kahapea, Debbie Deleon, and cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews.
Dianne had a heart of gold and everything she touched turned to gold. She blessed us all with her aloha, compassion, generosity, and most especially her kindness. She was an incredibly special, wonderful, loving, fabulous mother, sister, daughter, aunty, cousin, supervisor, friend, and so much more!! She lived her life to the fullest! Her spirit, zest for life, passion for the holidays, hosting, and decorating made the world a brighter, more beautiful place to be.
Her service today, Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, is a Mōhalu moon. “Mōhalu” is a Hawaiian term that references flowering, blossoming, and opening, is closely connected to fertilization and the creation of life. As an avid gardener, Dianne spent her lifetime bringing life and beauty, not only to the plants and flowers in her garden, but to everyone who crossed her path without expecting anything in return. Through her fearless aloha spirit, kind words and deeds, and nonjudgmental attitude, she uplifted others, always made them feel welcome, and put them at ease. Her firm belief in the importance of kindness and forgiveness permeated all of her actions. She led her life looking for the good in others and forgiving their mistakes. She is a proud graduate of Aiea High School, Class of 1966.
While she held many roles in life, including Director of Tradeshow Decorators for more than 30 years, her most cherished role in life was being a loving and devoted mother! She shared an everlasting bond with her daughter who was her Angel on earth. Now Dianne is our guardian Angel enjoying a happy reunion with her ʻohana in heaven and smiling upon us. Our lives are forever changed, but her unconditional love will always be with us. Her spirit and aloha messages to, “Always Be Kind”; “Help Those Less Fortunate Than Yourself”; and “Live and Let Live” will live in our hearts forever.
