Anne Marie loved life and had a heart and aura to match. She was passionate and serious about
teaching and shaping young minds and spirits to envision and achieve their every dream. Her
love and caring for her students extended far beyond the classroom walls as her outreach
included parents, grandparents, and extended family. Wherever she taught, instilling the value
of community across the campus she served was her mission.
Anne Marie expressed that same passion in caring for her own family. Relationships were of
utmost importance, and she would not hesitate to recognize and address issues that impacted
her family’s well-being. She remembered and celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and every
family special event often by suggesting random and spontaneous ideas, then rallying everyone
to simply enjoy the moment.
On par with her love of teaching and her family was Anne Marie’s passion for animals. She had
an affinity for dogs and loved horses. She never hesitated to rescue a lost dog and try to reunite
it with its family. She sadly leaves behind her two furry family members Weanie and Ka‘oli who
miss her very much and wonder when mommy is coming home.
Anne Marie also possessed a unique skill of speaking her mind, while also striving to keep the
peace. Even when surrounded by her biggest challenges and fiercest foes, she never lost her
line of sight to doing what was “pono” – doing the right thing, in the right way, with the right
feeling, for the right reason.
As a loving and devoted wife, partner, and soulmate, Anne Marie changed my world. In our
nearly four decades together, Anne Marie was my life’s teacher. Simply put, she taught me how
to truly live life with passion, open eyes, an open mind, and an open heart.
To my beautiful wife of 31 years, I will miss you every day that we are physically apart. But I will
be enriched by the presence of your spirit, guiding me through every moment, every challenge,
every win, and every celebration. To my “rainbow”, I will love you forever and ever. Me ke
aloha.
