Mary is a residential school survivor, having attended Lejac Residential School located in Fraser Lake, BC. She attended the school for ten years of her life. After those ten years, when she was 11 or 12 years old, Mary set out to live a life of her own.
In 1959, she met a fella in Prince George, BC named Francis Joseph Recollet. Since their names were Mary and Joseph, it must have been meant to be. They were married (spiritually) for 47 years before Francis passed away, and in those years, they brought six children into the world.
Leo Perry, John Duncan Perry and family recall a brief memory of time they spent with Mary:
"“Our favourite memory of Mary is when we came to live with her in Barriere in the summer of 1972. There was Uncle John, Auntie Jessie, Richard, Charlie, Leo, Sam (St John), and Maryanne. This was the best summer we had with Auntie Mary and family.”
Mary is predeceased by her mother Margret Dan; her sons George Patrick and Francis Marvin; her daughter Beverly Recollet; and her uncles John Duncan Perry and Tommy Dan. She is survived by her daughters Barbra Glass, age 64, and Vivian Recollet, age 61; her son-in-law, Daniel Brown; sons Leonard James, age 58, and Darryl Allan, age 55; her three grandchildren John Pius Recollet, Raven Recollet, and Hunter Recollet; and her cousins Veronica Recollet and Leslie Dan.
Mary will be interred at Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops, BC. A service for Mary will be held on July 5th, 2022, at Schoening Funeral Service at 10:00am, with a short graveside committal to follow.
