Time finally ran out on Davis, after a long life of family, friends, travel, reading and successive careers as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and a high school geography teacher. He was born in Sutton ON to Dr. John Edwards and Caroline Davis, and travelled extensively with his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Gartshore, living in many places including Dartmouth NS, Victoria BC, southern England, Ottawa ON, Kingston ON, Gananoque ON, Shoal Lake MB, Waterloo ON, and Head of Chezzetcook NS. After Dorothy’s passing in 2006, Davis moved to Courtenay BC and ultimately Kamloops BC.
Davis was also predeceased by his son Charles of Gaetz Brook NS, and his brothers John and Robert of Courtenay BC, and Richard of Milton ON. He is survived by his new love (and wife) Marjorie O’Brien of Kamloops BC, his sister Jane Timmons of Creemore ON, son Thomas of Victoria BC, daughter Mavis Bethune of Prince George BC, as well as grandchildren Danon, Gavin, Christopher, Stephen, Sarah, Heather and Todd, and a growing list of great-grandchildren scattered across Canada and beyond.
Davis’ ashes will be making one more cross-Canada trip to join Dorothy’s at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Dartmouth NS, at a later date.
