In life, Carol Elaine Farquhar, was a devoted wife, loving mother, joyful friend and supportive community member. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, November 20th, 1943 Carol, at the young age of 19 served as a Policewoman with the Brighton Police Force until she began her 57 years of marriage to her husband Jim. Ever-welcoming to all who knew her and entered her home, Carol possessed a set of personal ethics and values that included a drive to contribute to society through volunteerism. She selflessly dedicated countless hours to an annual door to door campaign for the Kinsmen Mother's March, recording her readings of classic novels for dyslexic students at the Fraser Academy, fundraising as a member of the Fort Langley Elementary School, and donating annually to charities benefiting children around the world. Carol and Jim lived in several countries while raising their family. Carol also genuinely enjoyed learning about the cultures of the places she visited during her almost 500 days on cruise ships. In quiet moments, Carol could be found reading novels, researching historic details, solving challenging crossword and Sudoku puzzles, listening to classical music, or singing along beautifully to her favorite vocal artist, Nana Mouskouri. On October 20th, just one month before her 80th birthday, she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She will be deeply missed by many, including her dedicated husband, Jim, and her loving children, Stuart and Kirsten. A private memorial will be organized in the springtime for close family and friends.
