My fondest memories of Rick were when we carpooled to work together in San Dimas.  He was a no drama , dry witted, genuinely nice guy.  He was very supportive in my quest to apply for management which I appreciated greatly.  Although our paths took different turns and Sheila and Rick moved to Hawaii, I was fortunate to see them both recently in California.  Rick will be missed and I am sure especially by the love of his life Sheila.  May his memories keep her at peace with his passing. 

Uncle Rick was truly a great man, always making us smile and laugh with his witty humor.  Shall his soul find peace and rest well. 

I met Rick when we were in the same graduate school cohort for marriage and family therapy.  So many of our cohort dropped out- he helped me stay motivated to finish.  Later we opened an office together.  He was the best positive father figure for clients to work through stuff; and also for me.  He brought humor, stability, and acceptance of working through tough situations. We'd often catch up between appointments at the office-I remember him saying "Getting old isn't for the faint of heart."  Rick had oodles of heart.  I've also enjoyed his gift for writing his Christmas letters over the years- again his wit and humor shine.  Above all he embodied Carl Roger's unconditional positive regard which he gave to everyone authentically.  

The heavens have indeed gained a witty intellectual, mischievously disguised as Rick. They'd hardly be prepared for his wrapped package of kindness layered with gentle humor, and the adoring gleam in his eyes when he would talk about the love of his life, Sheila. In every conversation's echo, we will miss his loving commitment and friendly banter.

What a great family guy. I am so blessed to always feel part of this fabulous family.  Rick, you will be missed

Uncle Rick was a funny man. I remember I had farting putty and I went behind him and started to "make him fart" and teased him about it because according to him, he didn't fart and has never farted. There was lots of memories probably in the back of my mind, but he was a nice funny man. Always smiling and winking. I found a white feather in my phone case a couple weeks ago or so. He will always be in our hearts, memories, and watching over. Love you uncle Rick. Aloha to you.

When I first met Rick I was unsure how to take him. I was young and new to the family. He was quiet and reserved and wise. I soon learned that beneath that was a funny man with a sly smile and a wink and a sparkle in his eye who took the very best care of the love of his life everyday. Aloha Brother in Law.

Rick was always a very giving man. I lived with he and my Aunt Shiela for a little bit of time and he was always good to me.He was always very quiet. I was so happy I got to see him and Aunt Shiela back in October.
