William was born in Jamaica, NY to Bernard and Gladys Tompkins on March 11th, 1934 and was raised in Richmond Hill, Queens. He served in the Marine Corp. from 1952 to 1955.
William worked as a computer programmer in Manhattan where he met and married
Wilma Jaroslow. He finished his career in Westbury, NY before retiring.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma in 1998. William is survived by his sons, Paul Tompkins and wife Kory, Kurt Tompkins and wife Tania, Eric Tompkins and wife Molly; Grandchildren Caden, Rian, Rylee and Brayden Tompkins. William shared the past fifteen years with Claire Roche.
