Virginia (Ginny) Fisher Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, ascended into heaven on May 15th, 2023, lovingly encompassed by her family. “She is clothed with strength and dignity.” Proverbs 31:25. Ginny so bravely battled cancer multiple times throughout her life. Despite her health challenges, Ginny was a rock in the lives of those who loved her. She guided others through difficult times and always put the needs of family and friends first.
Ginny was born in Sumter, South Carolina on October 8th, 1948 to Archibald and Marie Fisher. A few years later her sister Cindy (Larry) was born, and their family was complete. Living in Sumter, they were surrounded by extended family and Ginny and her sister enjoyed making memories with their cousins. Ginny’s mother was a Sunday school teacher at their church in Dalzell, footsteps Ginny would later follow in her own life at the First Baptist Church of Lake Park.
Ginny married the love of her life, Kent, 55 years ago. They met in Sumter and relocated to South Florida in 1969 when Kent took a position with Pratt Whitney. Together Ginny and Kent had two sons. David was born in 1971 and Matt (Jerin) in 1978. While raising their sons Ginny began working as the financial administrator for Dr. Bruce Ouellette’s dental practice in Palm Beach. Ginny’s career spanned nearly 40 years; she was an integral part of the practice.
Ginny enjoyed all of the fun that came with raising their boys. The road trips to South Carolina, Flagler Beach vacations, church, sports and friends. She served as a second mother to many friends of both David and Matt, who are all thankful for the impact she made on their lives.
Ginny and Kent were blessed with five grandchildren of whom she loved fiercely. Emma (16), Katy (15), Charlotte (14), Savannah (12), and Matthew (8). Her grandchildren referred to her as Nana and loved her deeply. They appreciated her unconditional love and support.
Ginny’s dedication to God, family, and First Baptist Church Lake Park, completed a beautiful and joyful life and we, “honor her for all her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise.” Proverbs 31:31.
Services will be held at Family Church Lake Park on June 10th at 11:00AM, followed by a reception at 12:00PM for family and friends.
