Thomas Francis Fricke, 84, formerly of Baldwin, New York, passed Monday, July 3, 2017 in Jupiter, Florida, where he resided with his wife of nearly 60 years, Suzanne Flood Fricke. Throughout his life, Tom's focus was Sue and his five children, all of whom have been gifted by his unselfish love, outrageous humor, and sage advice.
Tom was born on April 13, 1933 in Oceanside, New York. He graduated from Cornell University (which he attended on an NROTC scholarship) and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
He retired from a successful career as Vice President of Sterling Grace Municipals in New York, NY in time to enjoy ringing the cow bell at his youngest daughter's high school field hockey games and later traveling the world with Sue. Beloved for his irreverent sense of humor and enthusiasm for life, Tom made friends wherever he went and graced the local landscapes with his knack for cultivating flowers and shrubs.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Flood Fricke; his son John F. Fricke of Northfield, Vermont and wife Jackie; his daughter Janet Fricke Combs of Baltimore, Maryland and husband Rich; his son Robert K. Fricke of Kailua, Hawaii and wife Cynthia; his daughter Joanne Fricke Craig of Huntersville, North Carolina and husband Ronnie; and his daughter Patricia Fricke Poulson of Elmhurst, Illinois and husband Mark. He was adored by his 14 grandchildren who will continue to repeat his jokes and antics as a living tribute to him: Jennifer (and husband Tom), Tom (and wife Liz); Sean; Patrick (and wife Kristin); Laura; Brian; Colleen; Kelly; Billy; Ben; Emily; Jimmy; John; and Susie.
A brief memorial Celebration of Tom's life will be held at the Allegro Community Room on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 4:30 p.m.,
1031 Community Drive, Jupiter, Florida 33458.
