Robert Taylor Parkey, 87, of Jupiter, FL, passed away on December 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Corinth, MS on December 29, 1936, the youngest son of Lloyd William and Jimmie Derror (Taylor) Parkey.
His family moved from Tennessee to West Palm Beach in 1937. He attended Northboro Elementary, Northboro and Central Junior High schools, Palm Beach High School graduating class of 1954. He also attended Georgia Military Academy near Atlanta. He entered the U.S Marine Corps in January 1954, serving for three years. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Ruschmeyer, in 1957, and they began married life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His college years were completed upon graduation from the University of Miami, FL in 1960 with a B.S. in Chemistry.
His career led him to a very successful executive vice-presidency and general management of Anchor Products, Inc., a large plastics manufacturer, in Montgomery IL and Knoxville TN, remaining with the company during mergers and acquisitions, until his retirement in 1998. He was elected to Who’s Who Worldwide as a global business leader. Residences were in Palm Beach County, Atlanta GA, Knoxville TN, Miami FL, Charlotte NC, Jacksonville FL, Memphis TN, Naperville IL, St. Lucie West FL, having moved to Jupiter FL in 2012.
Bob found his greatest joy in the love of his beloved wife and the beautiful family they lovingly built together, cherishing every moment spent with them. He was a gentle soul, with a soft voice and an affectionate heart that radiated warmth to everyone around him.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol; sons, William R. Parkey (Rosalie) and Douglas B. Parkey (Kelly); daughters, Jennifer P. Larson (Stephen) and Kristina King (Carrie); grandchildren, Brittany Parkey, Sarah Parkey, Grant Parkey, Douglas Parkey Jr., Cody Parkey (Colleen), Hunter Parkey, Austin Larson (Cassidy), Erika Larson Zabriski (Evan), Amanda Larson, Lindsay Cortes and Brice Kiumarsi and great-grandchildren, Baileigh Cortes, Gannon Cortes, Easton Parkey, Kennedy Parkey, John Douglas “JD” Parkey, Brooks Larson and Parker Larson.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, William and James Parkey.
Private interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta FL. Donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Tunnels to Towers “T2T” Foundation at t2t.org.
