86, of Palm Beach Gardens, formerly of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully on November 3, 2012 after struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. “Bob” was born and raised in Keansburg, NJ with his brother William. Bob met his bride-to -be, Wilma Krueger, in Sunday School at the Methodist Church in Keansburg, NJ and years later were married at the same church on September 22, 1945. He and his bride of 67 years lived happily in Manasquan, NJ where they raised their three children, Diane, Linda, and “Skip”. Upon his retirement from New Jersey Bell in 1979, they moved to sunny Vero Beach, FL where he was a passionate tennis player at Timber Ridge Tennis & Fitness Ranch. He also enjoyed golf with his buddies and was an active member of The Community Church of Vero Beach.
Bob was a Grand Master of the New Jersey Masons, Lake Como, Belmar, NJ and an active member of the Manasquan, NJ Elks Lodge 2534. He was also a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church. He loved tinkering with his tool collection, always busy making beautiful wood pieces and furnishing for his home and for others. He and Wilma enjoyed ballroom dancing and a good night of bridge with friends.
After graduating Middletown High School, Bob served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in May, 1945. He was a career employee of New Jersey Bell from 1944 to 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma and two daughters, Diane Hicks, Jupiter, FL, and Linda Acitelli of Ashville, NC. He has three grandchildren; Amy Berardi Simmonds and husband John, Jupiter, FL, Elizabeth Berardi Pillsbury and husband Mark, Joshua Schor and his wife Michelle. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Skylar Simmonds, 11, Elle Simmonds, 9, Theresa Pillsbury, 10, Grace Pillsbury, 8 and Joseph Pillsbury, 6, Lucabella Schor, 10 and Odin Schor, 8. Bob’s son “Skip” died in 1973. His brother William died in 1995.
A private family memorial service will be held in Jupiter, FL.
