Robert L. Cheviot passed away on Thursday, August 10. Bob was born in Providence, RI September 6, 1925 and grew up in Baldwin, LI, graduating from Baldwin H.S. He went on to enlist in the US Marine Corps at age 17 to serve in WWII. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University (where he played on their baseball team) and then his Masters Degree from NYU in New York City. Bob had an exciting profession of 40 years with the 3M Company beginning in New York City in sales. He then moved to St. Paul, MN serving as Marketing Manager for 10 years and mentor to many. He was involved with their Magic Tape as well as on the launch of the famous Post-It Notes. He was transferred back to New York and became the New York Area Sales Manager for the Commercial Office Supply Division covering the northeast.
Bob quietly loved his belief and connection to GOD and the Holy Family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered in various spiritual activities.
He was an outstanding athlete in many sports-baseball, tennis, basketball, hockey, and golf as his favorite ( 7 handicap without even having a lesson-a real natural). Also, a truly dedicated Yankee fan !!! His 40-year marriage to Patrice Ohman was the highlight of his life as they both loved traveling abroad (over 27 countries and some of them more than once). Also enjoyed cruises and lots of fun at Disney World. The words that are spoken regularly about Bob is “what a great sense of humor he had. He loved to tease and laugh.” Patrice dearly loved him with the knowing that their marriage was preciously special.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Patrice, a niece Cathy Trommer and family, and cousins in Sweden and is lovingly remembered and constantly alive in the hearts of everyone.
