Robert Charles Bridges was born February 20, 1933, in Queens, Long Island, New York. He was one of four children, born into a hard working family who like so many of his generation, always planned for that rainy day. It instilled in him an incredible business expertise and an unwavering love of family.
He married his best friend, Corky, and they laughed and loved for over 65 years. From New York to Florida, to North Carolina, they created strong friendships and lasting memories. Golf, tennis, boating, traveling...But best of all was when they earned the titles, Nanny & Poppa! Poppa was there for every milestone, and our memories will be cherished. When Corky, our mom, passed in December 2020, Dad, best known as Poppa, continued to be our role model. Participating and living life to its fullest at Mangrove Bay, Poppa never let his sadness show. Even then, he touched everyone’s heart, as he always did, with kind smiles and gratitude for all the care he received.
Robert, “Bob”, “Poppa”, leaves behind his sister, Linda Hasenmeyer and Ken (husband) of Setauket, L.I.; son, Robert C. Bridges, Jr. and Frannie (wife); daughter, Nancy A. Krar and Brad (husband); grandchildren, Bradley Charles Krar, and Jenn (wife), and Nicholas Gene Krar, and Jackie Bridges; and Great Grandchild, Shane Charles Krar. Sister in Law, Estelle Bridges-Lutes; Numerous Nieces and Nephews who adored funny and caring Uncle Bob.
